The fourth Annual Trauma Research Seminar was hosted at Oslo University Hospital by our research group, in collaboration with the Injury Prevention and Outcomes following Trauma (IPOT) research group and Sunnaas Rehabilitation Hospital. The seminar serves as an important arena for sharing new knowledge, presenting ongoing research projects, and fostering collaboration for future joint research initiatives. The seminar was led by representatives from all collaborating groups, including Torgeir Hellstrøm, Mari Storli Rasmussen, Leiv Arne Rosseland, and Solveig Hauger.
Throughout the day, several researchers and PhD candidates presented their work, covering a broad range of trauma-related topics. The presentations prompted engaging discussions, valuable input, and constructive dialogue, contributing to a productive and inspiring seminar.

Christoph Schäfer defended his thesis, “Recommendations for Acute Rehabilitation, Functioning and Return to Work after Traumatic Injury in a Cohort from a Norwegian Trauma Centre Population,” for the degree of PhD at the Arctic University of Norway (UiT) on January 22, 2026.

The main supervisor was Professor Audny Anke, Department of Clinical Medicine, UiT the Arctic University of Norway, and co-supervisor was Professor Nada Andelic, University in Oslo and Oslo University Hospital.

Håkon Øgreid Moksnes defended his thesis “Injury-related factors, functional outcomes, rehabilitation needs, and service provision in the first year following moderate-to-severe traumatic injuries” for the degree of PhD at the University of Oslo. 

The committee consisted of first opponent Associate Professor Kristine Pape, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, second opponent Medical Doctor Mathilde Chevignard, Hôpitaux de Saint Maurice and chair of the evaluation committee Associate Professor Knut Magne Augestad, University of Oslo.

Main supervisor was senior consultant Torgeir Hellstrøm, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and co-supervisors Nada Andelic, Helene L. Søberg and Olav Røise all from Oslo University Hospital.

On October 1^st 2024, we arranged our yearly research seminar at OUS, and we had the pleasure of welcoming our close collaborator Paul B. Perrin, Professor of Data Science and Psychology, University of Virginia and Research Psychologist and Co-Director, Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center TBI Model Systems,  and his research group (Bridget Xia, Natalie Gilmore, Jessica Ryan, Daniel Klyce and Jolie Huan) as well as Juan Lu, Professor, Graduate Programs Director, Department of Epidemiology, School of Public Health, Virginia Commonwealth University.
