Elfrida Hartveit Kvarstein has a primary clinical research interest and experience within the personality disorder field. She is leader of the Research Group Personality Psychiatry which recruits researchers across health regions in order to strengthen clinical quality and research collaborations focusing on assessment and treatment of personality disorder:

She is professional manager of the Norwegian Network for Personality Disorders, a multicentre clinical research collaboration involving treatment units within Norwegian mental health services providing psychotherapeutic treatment for patients with personality disorders and related conditions. The Network has a well-established, large clinical quality register including longitudinal data from assessment and throughout treatment.
