Clinical Cancer Research Unit

The Clinical Cancer Research Unit at Oslo University Hospital is located at two sites; the Norwegian Radium Hospital and Ullevål Hospital.  In 1995 the Norwegian Radium Hospital established a separate Clinical Cancer Research Unit to provide optimal facilities for experimental treatment, in particular phase I and II clinical trials. In 2006, the new Cancer Centre at Ullevål University Hospital established a Research Unit for phase II and III trials. Today the two centers coordinate their work and the units perform both investigator-initiated and pharma-initiated trials.

The Clinical Cancer Research Unit has highly trained staff and is fully equipped with all the technology necessary for advanced phase I and phase II trials. The staff includes 5 oncologists, 7 research nurses, 1 secretary and 3 project managers. They all have broad experience in oncology and are specifically trained in clinical trial technology and methodology.

The main focus of the Clinical Cancer Research Unit is to perform high-quality and innovative research which will benefit current and future cancer patients. All studies are carried out in accordance to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
