Excellent articles award - ceremony June 12th Oslo University Hospital has awarded 6 excellent articles for the second half-year of 2025

The awards for outstanding research articles are awarded twice a year based on over 2,300 scientific articles that are published annually by OUS. The clinics' research committees nominate the articles, and an external committee evaluates and finally selects the six worthy winners.

The winning articles must have achieved international impact or have distinguished themselves in other ways. The articles must also be of exceptionally high quality and communicate important findings.

During a ceremony on June 12th, six research groups received 50,000 kroner each, earmarked for further research.

- This year's outstanding articles show the breadth of research at Oslo University Hospital – from groundbreaking clinical studies to molecular mechanisms and large international data analyses. We see how gut flora treatment can reduce the need for antibiotics, new biomarkers can provide earlier diagnosis of preeclampsia, and how education affects cognitive function throughout life. At the same time, new targets for immunotherapy against cancer are demonstrated, better methods for pain relief in prehospital emergency medicine, and how a large Nordic study can change the use of beta-blockers after heart attacks. Together, the works illustrate how research at OUS contributes to more precise diagnostics, better treatment and more sustainable health services, says Head of the Research Committee Kjetil Taskén, who was responsible for the award.
