Jan Erikssen

One may call him the founding father, Professor Jan Erikssen performed the entire baseline examination and has been enganged in the Oslo Ischemia Study since the early 1970s. He is still active in the group's ongoing projects.

Ragnhild Sørum Falk

  • Statistician/Epidemiologist; MSc, PhD

Ragnhild Falk is a medical statistician and epidemiologist contributed to several articles from the Oslo Ischemia Study in recent years. She currently work as Oslo Centre of Biostatistics and Epidemiology and is the contact person of the Oslo Ischemia Study Group.

Jørgen Vildershøj Bjørnholt

Jørgen Vildershøj Bjørnholt completed his thesis on Fasting blood glucose, Diabetes mellitus Type 2 and cardiovascular disease in the Oslo Ischemia Study cohort in 2004. He currently works as clinical microbiologist at Oslo University Hospital and as associate professor at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo.

Johan Bodegård

  • Epidemiologist; MD PhD

Johan Bodegård completed his thesis on the Oslo Ischemia Study cohort in 2006. After working as an MD at Akershus University Hospital for some years he has now moved on the AstraZeneca where he holds a position as an epidemiologist. Dr. Bodegård has been instrumental to the collection of mortality and morbidity data and has contributed to a large number of Oslo Ischemia Study publications.

Kristian Engeseth

Kristian Engeseth is currently in the last phase of his thesis on the cohort and has been authored several OIS papers in recent years. He also works as a physician at the Department of Medicine at Oslo University Hospital, Ullevål.

Gunnar Erikssen

  • Consultant cardiologist; MD, PhD

Gunnar Erikssen has contributed to over 40 Oslo Ischemia Study publications spanning over 2 decades. He currently works as Head of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Unit at the Department of Cardiology, Oslo University Hospital, Rikshospitalet.

Knut Gjesdal

Knut Gjesdal, a cardiologist with knowledge on ECG and arrhythmias, has been a consistent contributor to Oslo Ischemia Study research during the last 15 years.

Irene Grundvold

  • Consultant cardiologist; MD PhD

Irene Grundvold defended her thesis "Long-term predictors of atrial fibrillation", based on the Oslo Ischemia Study cohort, in 2013.

Trond Heir

  • Professor; MD PhD

Trond Heir has contributed to several articles from the Oslo Ischemia Study in recent years. While trained as a psychiatrist, his research interests also include epidemiology and public Health.

Sverre Kjeldsen

  • Professor emeritus; MD PhD

Sverre Kjeldsen is currently Emeritus Professor at University of Oslo and has recently retired from 45 years of clinical work with internal medicine, mostly cardiology, nephrology and hypertension at Ullevål University Hospital (Oslo) and University of Michigan (Ann Arbor). He has worked with 50 MDs who have done their PhD work in the cardiovascular field including several on the cohort.

Knut Liestøl

Knut Liestøl is the head of the Department of the Institute of Informatics at the University of Oslo and the study's current chief statistician with over 30 years' experience from the Oslo Ischemia Study.

Julian Mariampillai

Julian Mariampillai is an internal medicine resident and has been active in the study group since medical school. He is working on his doctoral degree based on the Oslo Ischemia Study with the thesis named “Novel Insight into Exercise Blood Pressure and Long-Term Risk of Cardio- and Cerebrovascular Disease”.

Erik Edward Prestgaard

Erik Prestgaard studied risk factors for stroke and defended his thesis in February 2021. After working some time in surgery and internal medicine, he now practices in primary care and hosts a podcast on cardiovascular topics.

Trude Eid Robsahm

  • Epidemiologist; PhD

Trude Eid Robsahm is heading the section of Epidemiology and Prevention at the Cancer Registry of Norway. Her research focuses on cancer etiology and the role of modifiable lifestyle factors in cancer prevention.

Leiv Sandvik

Leiv Sandvik is a statistician who has made a great contribution to the Oslo Ischemia Study since his first publication on the cohort in 1988. He retired in 2017.

Per Torger Skretteberg

  • Consultant cardiologist; MD PhD

Per Torger Skretteberg defended his thesis "HDL-cholesterol, Exercise Blood Pressure and Triglycerides as Predictors of Cardiovascular Disease or Diabetes. Influence of Physical Fitness and Re-examination", based on the cohort, in 2014. He works as a consultant cardiologist at Oslo University Hospital, Ullevål.

Knut Stavem

Knut Stavem has contributed to several articles from the OIS cohort, mainly on pulmonary topics.

Erik Thaulow

  • Professor emeritus; MD, PhD

Erik Thaulow worked as a cardiologist with special knowledge on congenital heart defects at Department of Cardiology, Oslo University Hospital, Rikshospitalet, until his retirement in 2019.
