Gene Expression and epigenetic changes in brain disorders

Next Neuroscience Research Unit Seminar will be arranged Friday 11. October at Domus Medica 4, room L-200, from 11.30-16. The topic will be "Gene Expression and epigenetic changes in brain disorders".

Associate Pofessor and Research Group leader Maja Jagodic from Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm will visit us this day. She will give an introductary talk and stay through our discussions for the rest of the day. Jagodic's Research Group Focus on epigenetic origins and mechanisms in neuroinflammation with main emphasis on multiple sclerosis. For more information, see

The plan for the day will be as follows:

11.30-12.00  Lunch (outside L200 at Domus Medica 4, upon registration only)
12.00-12.45 Maja Jagodic: Epigenomic approach to understand pathogenesis of Multiple Sclerosis
12.45-13.05  Toni Berger (PhD student, epilepsi): Neuronal and glial DNA methylation and gene expression changes in early epileptogenesis

13.05-13.25  Marie Udnesseter Lie (PhD student, FORMI): Pain physiology and "pain genes" in sciatica patients and healthy controls.

13.25-13.45  Coffee break

13.45-14.15  Steffan Bos (senior researcher in the MS Research group): Gene Expression and epigenetic changes in multiple sclerosis.

14.15-14.45  Kaja Kristine Selmer (researcher and research group leader): Dietary treatment of epilepsy in adults: The role of epigenetics in treatment response

14.45-15.00  Coffee break
