Porto – Oslo collaboration publishes improved prognostication by genetic analyses of prostate cancer

Franclim Ribeiro, a PhD student of Professor Manuel Teixeira, Oncology Institute of Porto, and a guest scientist in the Lothe lab, has from this joint venture published two recent papers in Genes Chromosomes and Cancer and Clinical Cancer Research. New data relevant for tumor etiology and for prognostication of prostate cancer are presented. Ultrasound-guided biopsies from prostate cancer suspects with gain of chromosome 8q sequences show poor prognosis, also when restricting the analyses to cases with Gleason7, the most troublesome group in terms of prognostic information.
