Cancer cells survive in the face of enormous stress from genetic rearrangements and altered metabolic demands. Our lab studies two key mechanisms used by tumour cells use to adapt to this stress - maintenance of proteostasis via the ubiquitin-proteasome system, and metabolic reprogramming. We are particularly interested in these processes in breast and pancreatic cancer by understanding genotype:phenotype relationships.
We have developed a novel platform for screening protein-protein interactions in situ using high content imaging and we are integrating this approach with proteomics, genomics, metabolomics and animal models for functional validation and translation of the avalanche of novel mutations flowing from tumour genome sequencing efforts.
