Cecilie Røe appointed "Scientist of the Month" by "Helse Sør-Øst" for December 2011

The South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority (Helse Sør-Øst) aims to profile ongoing excellent research in the region by by calling special attention to a "Scientist of the month".

For the month of December, this honor goes to Cecilie Røe from the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Division of Surgery and Clinical Neuroscience, Oslo University Hospital.

Ceclie Røe's research focus on the early rehabilitation of patients with traumatic brain injury. These patients have severe brain damage caused by accidents, such as in traffic or by falling down. Every year about 200 individuals in Norway are subjected to such damages. The injuries may cause death or lifelong disability.

New research centre
Norway's first research centre for habilitation and rehabilitation services - CHARM (Research Centre for Habilitation and Rehabilitation Models and Services) - is currently being established. Røe is the project leader for this research group.

Research is an area of commitment for the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority, which spends a total of 1.4 thousand million NOK on research every year.
