My research involves both wet lab work and the use of bioinformatics. I use these tools to study qualitative transcript variants and fusion genes that are involved in cancer biology and may ultimately have the potential as cancer biomarkers. More specifically:
1.Fusion transcripts involving the TCF7L2 gene in colorectal cancer and chimeric transcript overexpression in tumour versus normal.
2.Assessment of transcript structures and potential fusion genes in colorectal cancer by using a new custom targeted RNA sequencing approach.
3.Analysis of RNA sequencing data from embryonal carcinoma and embryonic stem cell lines in a testicular germ cell tumour setting.
