Milestones/Results:
A large variety of macromolecules have been shown to be activated by PCI in vitro, including several type I ribosome-inactivating protein toxins (RIPs), 2 immunotoxin, genes delivered as plasmids (complexed to several lipoplex or polyplex) or in adenoviruses, peptide nucleic acid (PNA) as well as bleomycin. In vivo PCI has been shown to activate the non-toxic RIP gelonin and bleomycin as measured by inhibition of growth of subcutaneously implanted human tumours in athymic mice.
