EurocanPlatform workshop May 18-19th

Circulating Biomarkers in Cancer

The EurocanPlatform workshop on circulating biomarkers in cancer will take place at the Institute for Cancer Research, OUS, The Norwegian Radium Hospital from Monday May 18th to Tuesday May 19th. Deadline for abstract submissions: April 17th.

Professor Anne-Lise Borresen-Dale, head Dept of Genetics and the K.G. Jebsen Center for Breast Cancer Research, is co-ordinating the participation of OUS in the Eurocan Platform. She is also a member of the Project Steering Committee (PSC). Group leader Åslaug Helland is deputy in the Oslo part of the project, and leads the lung cancer focused projects.

EurocanPlatform is an EC funded project bringing together 28 European cancer Institutions and organisations to work together in a unique collaboration. The centres are sharing infrastructures and collaborating on projects to help advance cancer research and treatment. The platform of interlinked cancer centres with shared infrastructures and collaborative projects aim at facilitating rapid advances in knowledge, and their translation into better cancer care. There is a strong focus on discovery-driven translational cancer research.

Oslo University Hospital HF (OUS) is a partner in the project, and has been involved in several work packages. Anne-Lise Børresen-Dale, together with Maria Grazia Daidone (previously Marci Pierotti), leads WP3: Early detection and biomarker discovery. This work package has 16 involved partners, and very successful collaborations have been established, and with novel findings to be published. In addition, OUS is involved in work packages on therapeutic strategy, the technology, biobanking and epidemiology.
