Anne-Lise Børresen-Dale took formally over as president for the European Association for Cancer Research on July 7th, during the 20th EACR meeting, held in Lyon 5-7 July 2008. She informs that the next EACR meeting - "EACR 21" will be held in Oslo in June 2010.
During the meeting an extensive scientific programme was being appreciated by well over 1,100 members and delegates. Hege Russnes (photo) received an award on basis of abstract submission and oral presentation.

Professor Anne Hansen Ree and coauthors Sigurd Folkvord and Kjersti Flatmark from Department of Tumor Biology are publishing a correspondence, entitled “HDAC2 deficiency and histone acetylation”, in the July 2008 issue of Nature Genetics. The authors report the effects of combining trichostatin A (TSA) with radiation in HDAC2-deficient colorectal carcinoma cells.

Christina Tekle is fist author and Tore-Geir Iversen is senior author on a recent paper entitled “Cellular trafficking of Quantum dot-Ligand bioconjugates and their induction of changes in normal routing of unconjugated ligands”, published online in the June 21st. issue of “Nano Letters” (impact factor: 10.0).

European workshop on osteosarcoma at Lysebu

The Myklebost group arranged a succesful workshop for the EU "Network of Excellence on Bone Tumours", Research Line 2: "Osteogenic tumours and related sarcomas", in which they are Work Package Leaders. Thirty participants from ten European countries - including several clinicians from the National Competence Centre for Sarcomas - discussed progress and plans during a two-day meeting held June 10-12th at Lysebu Conference Centre.
