Ragnhild A. Lothe has been elected as a member of "The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters".

The membership was confirmed by the handover of a diploma on the 150 years anniversary of the Society May 2007 with King Harald present.

Medinnova's Idea Prize to research group working on early markers for tumors in the digestive system

Every year Medinnova distributes its Idea prize to the best idea with commercial potential originating from employees belonging to the Norwegian Health Region South-East (Helse Sør-Øst).
This years prize went to four employees from the Department of Cancer Prevention: Guro E. Lind (photo), Ragnhild A. Lothe, Rolf I. Skotheim and Terje Ahlquist.
They have identified new biological markers for colorectal tumours. These markers may contribute to the development of a test for discovering cancer at an early stage.

King Olav V's annual prize for cancer research 2007 was on June 14th awarded to Professor Ragnhild A. Lothe from the Department of Cancer Prevention at the Institute for Cancer Research, Rikshospitalet-Radiumhospitalet. King Harald V presented Professor Lothe with this prestigious prize, which is funded by Norwegian Cancer Society.

This year's prize from "Dr. Ragnar Mørk legacy" is awarded Anne Simonsen from the Department of Biochemistry at the Norwegian Radium Hospital.
The "Dr. Ragnar Mørk legacy" prize is distributed annually to a scientist who has achieved excellent results throughout years of outstanding research.
The ceremony took place in the seminar room at the Institute for Cancer Research on Friday 22nd of November. Simonsen gave a lecture summarizing her work.

Johan Moan from the Department of Radiation Biology at the Institute for Cancer Research has been elected member of "The Royal Norwegian Society of Science and Letters", Division of Sciences.

The membership was confirmed by the handover of a diploma at the meeting for the society in Trondheim on January 22nd.

The objective of the Academy is to promote the sciences, and its members are divided into two Divisions, Letters and Sciences.

This year's prize from "Dr. Ragnar Mørk legacy" has been awarded to Bjørn Naume. The award is personal, and amounts to NOK 200.000.

The ceremony took place at Thursday 29th of November in the seminar room (F4) at the Institute for Cancer Research .

The purpose of the prize is to promote and encourage cancer research at the Norwegian Radium Hospital.

During the meeting for the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR) in Budapest this summer Anne-Lise Børresen-Dale was chosen "president elect", implying that she will become president in 2008, after two years in the executive committe.

In addition, Anne-Lise Børresen-Dale has recently been elected member of the board of the Cancer Registry of Norway.
