Short information of study group and study work.

Clinical epidemiological follow-up  study of ulcerative colitis and Crohns disease patients, in south-eastern Norway, which includes epigenetic studies with international collaborators. After 10 years follw-up more than 60 paper have been published together with 6 national and 3 international Phd's.

  • The collaboration, initiated from the University clinics in Oslo in 1989, with an equal representation between the specialist departments of Rikshospitalet, Aker and Ullevål was carried out in close collaboration with specialists of all the other hospitals in Oslo,  Aust Agder, Telemark and Østfold. Included were also specialists in pathology, clinical chemistry and statistics.
  • The scientific consortium today consists of internal groups based on "work packages" WP 1- Clinical activity and classification, WP 2- Clinical outcome related to risk, predictability and survival, WP 3- Development of cancer including predictive bio-  and epigenetic markers, WP 4- Family risk factors, WP 5- Quality of Life, Disease burden on patient and society and Health Economics WP 6-Extraintestinal manifestations WP 7-  Radiology in IBD WP 8- Histology and Biomarkers

Partners and scientific institutions

External National institutions ouside the University hospitals collaborating with at least one of the WP's are: The National Institute of Health, The Cancer Registry,  The National Birth Registry, The Registry of pharmaceutic prescriptions.

International collaborators are: Mayo Clinics, Rochester, US (biomarkers and CRC), Johnson & Johnson (serological markers), University of Kiel (Genetics), University of Leuven (Genetic serology), TelAviv (Immunologic serology), University of Maastricht(Informatics and electronic communication), University of Copenhagen (Pregnancy and fertility), University of Ionnina, Greece (Cancer epidemiology in IBD).
