Centres for Research-based Innovation (SFI)
14 Centres for Research-based innovation (CRIs) were appointed by the Executive Board of the Norwegian Research Council and announced by the Minister of Education and Research on 16 June 2006.
7 new SFI's were appointed by the Executive Board and announced December 16th 2010. These centres started their activities during 2011.
The main objective for the CRIs is to enhance the capability of the business sector to innovate by focusing on long-term research based on forging close alliances between research-intensive enterprises and prominent research groups.
