Induction of coronary risk factors, including endothelial dysfunction and inflammation in patients treated for cancer and in healthy subjects. Significance for morbidity and mortality.
Supervisor: John Kjekshus
Collaborators: Pål Aukrust, Sophie Fosså, Rune Andersen
To study the development of coronary risk factors and cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in long-term survivors of testicular cancer treated with chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy
To study the long-term consequences of treatment for patients who have had Hodgkin’s disease with respect to the development of cardiovascular disease (and with emphasis on cardiac valve regurgitations)
To study the induction of lipid streaks in connection with induced inflammation after vaccination for typhoid fever in young healthy individuals.
To measure endothelial function in young healthy males with different methods before and after work load and correlate these results with indices of inflammation and endothelial dysfunction measured in blood samples.
Endogenous and exogenous causes for endothelial dysfunction
Supervisors: John Kjekshus, Sopie D. Fosså
Collaborators: Department of Clinical Cancer Research, Research Institute for Internal Medicine, Department of Radiology, Department of Respiratory Medicine
To analyze the long-term consequences of modern cancer therapy on cardiovascular morbidity, mortality and endothelial function. To investigate the relation between different methods measuring endothelial dysfunction in healthy individuals and measure if the endothelial function is altered by vaccination against typhoid fever.
