The laboratory is a reference laboratory for measurements of tumour markers receiving blood samples from hospitals and doctors from all parts of Norway.

Our main research focus is in the field of tumour markers, however, the laboratory is also an important collaborator in most of the clinical research in the Hospital.

Supervision of students (both from University of Oslo and other universities in Norway) and doctoral candidates takes place in the Central Laboratory. Students from Biomedical Laboratory Sciences Program, Oslo University College (Høgskolen i Oslo) have their practice in the laboratory.
